Shark diving – swim with sharks experience
Are you brave enough to dive in an aquarium with fearsome sharks swimming around you? If you’ve got the bottle, then swimming with sharks is the ultimate animal experience!
Feel what it’s like to be in their world, waving at your spectators through the glass as the sharks swim around you? The type of shark varies from location to location, but you can be sure they’ll be big and toothy! There will also be other large fish including conger eels, stingrays and whole shoals of smaller fish which you can feed and play with.
Shark experience review
So what’s the deal? Well first, you’re not going to be up against Great White Sharks like Jaws, so there’s no danger of then biting you in two, or even chewing a bit off you! We’re talking the likes of Sand Tiger Sharks, Lemon Sharks and Stingrays and they’re certainly big lads – bigger than you and far bigger than you’d think once you get in there with them. And there’s no protective cage separating you from your fishy friends so swimming among them is quite something.
Do I need SCUBA diving experience?
Certainly not! Provided you’re confident in water, that’s all you need and beginners are well catered for.
Of course safety is paramount in this animal experience, and the experience day will start with scuba training which takes just over an hour. There are full instructions on how to use the scuba equipment and enough practice so you’ll feel safe and confident once you get under the water. And you’ll get an introduction to the marine creatures you’ll be seeing close up, so you know what you’re meeting up with.
You need to take a swimsuit/trunks and a towel, the rest of the equipment from mask, flippers, oxygen cylinder to dry suit or wet suit is provided.
And then it’s time for you to swim with the sharks. You’ll spend around half an hour or so getting to know these wonderful fish on their terms, in their territory, and the pool/aquarium you’ll be swimming in usually has shoals of smaller interested onlookers in the form of very inquisitive little fish who take as much interest in you as you do in them.
