This is our favourite sort of animal experience day, cos you get so many animals. A few experience companies offer the chance to become a zookeeper for a day but our favourite is from Activity superstore, and here's why:
Mainly it's because of all the zoo - it's a lovely place, that's quite personal and friendly. So what are the animals? that's the important bit isn't it. After all, you wouldn't want to be a zookeeper for a day in a zoo that was just full of horrible dogs and stuff would you? Well here's a list of just some of the animals in the Hertfordshire experience zoo:
Red pandas, Lemurs, Monkeys.......You want more? How about: Penguins, zebras, Tapirs. In fact they've got all sorts. They've got loads of lions and cheetas and some lovely snow leopards too, but you don't get to feed them on this experience. You can of course look at them like everyone else in the zoo.
Our top zookeeper for a day experience
In the morning you'll be feeding the animals (after a safety briefing of course!) before lunch. In the afternoon you'll start to get involved with other things like helping to clean out the animals and maybe getting up close with some of the animals around the zoo! You'll be the only participant on this amazing animal experience so it's a unique opportunity to get close to some brilliant creatures.
London zoo experience - Expensive but very good
You can now buy a ' zookeeper for a day' experience at London zoo. It's £100 more though, which is a huge jump. So what do you get for your extra £100?
The main thing is you get a lot more animals - there's all sorts at london zoo, and a lot of the bigger animals like giraffes. You also get a long day full of zookeeping stuff, and it's within easy access to London. If you were buying the zookeeper experience for a day as a gift for us, and money was no object, we'd ask for the London zoo experience. But if money is tight, you could do worse than getting the cheaper Virgin experience in kent.

Being a zookeeper for a day? How can that not be completely brilliant? It can be hard work, but it's fun work too.You don't get to stroke an ocelot sitting at your desk do you? Make sure you take a camera to snap the little beasties.
